THE SALT FOUNTAIN

INK ON TONED PAPER.

This is the story of a woman who has been living in a pool of her own tears, oblivious to the world around her. I think she’s cried so much she’s not even feeling her pain any longer. For her, it just feels good to feel something. But the world unfolds and she’s oblivious to it all. She’s a creator. We all know people like this – and sometimes you just want to grab them by the shoulders and shake them from their sleep. You want to tell them, “Look out at the ocean, there are whales breaching! Look up in the sky, someone is celebrating their 100th birthday and has released 100 balloons! Airplanes are soaring and Poppies are wrapping themselves around the unexplainable magic of it all.” Sometimes I wish I was better about shaking those people.
